Urban apiary Nectarist supplies pure, certified wax foundation. To be able to provide this, a project was set up with around 430 Ethiopian beekeepers, creating a win-win situation: the beekeepers in the South receive the necessary support and fair prices for their products, the Belgian beekeepers can count on very high-quality wax foundation that was tested in a research laboratory.
Urban apiary Nectarist attaches great importance to the quality of its products and therefore also to the quality of the wax foundation that we sell.
Recently, many beekeepers have been confronted with contaminated foundation. To provide a solution to this, our apiary has set up a partnership with an organization that unites around 430 Ethiopian beekeepers. These beekeepers are active in an area where there is no intensive farming and where the harvested beeswax is very pure. We are currently working very hard on BIO-certification for this beeswax.
The project consists in giving the beekeepers in Ethiopia the necessary support to professionalize their beekeeping. This allows them to harvest more honey and beeswax, increasing their income. For this training process we work together with Nemec VZW, which already has a lot of experience in setting up domestic and foreign beekeeping training courses.
Urban apiary Nectarist is committed to purchasing the beeswax of these beekeepers at fair prices. For the purchase of this pure beeswax, we enjoy the financial support of the Participation Fund of the province of Antwerp and Trividend, because of the social and sustainable nature of this project.
All beeswax is examined for pesticides and falsification. The results are of course always made available to our customers.
