    Honey to fight hay fever

The hay fever season has started again. So many among us start sneezing and sniffling again with itchy eyes to boot. Fortunately, our bees can also help us with this. Honey, pollen grains and propolis are three natural remedies to fight hay fever.

    1 - HONEY

The honey coming from your local beekeeper contains pollen and bacteria that occur all natural in your living environment. Eating these local superfoods helps you build a resistance and reduce allergic reactions to the same pollen. How can honey help you? Start taking a spoonful of honey every day about 1 to 2 months before hay fever season takes off, so that your body can adapt and becomes resilient. Preferably opt for the honey freshly arriving from the season to which you react the most.

    2 - POLLEN GRAINS

A second, slightly less tasty aid is pollen grains or bee pollen. They contain a substance called quercetin, which functions as a natural antihistamine. Complaints such as itchy nose, sneezing, sore throat and burning eyes are caused by the immune system releasing too much histamine. Pollen grains can easily be processed in yogurt or muesli or taken with a spoonful of honey.

    3 - PROPOLIS

Many people have an allergic reaction to the pollen of birch trees. The bees don't get pollen there, but they do visit those trees for its resin. Bees use the resin to create propolis. Result? Propolis can turn out to be your perfect remedy in case you’re allergic to the tree itself. We recommend you to start the cure before the symptoms appear (similar to a honey treatment). Do you already have complaints? Then double the dose at the beginning of the cure.

Please note to test any allergic reactions to propolis prior to taking this cure. Applya little amount of propolis to your skin to check if an allergic reaction occurs.

We recommend you start ingesting the cures 1 or 2 months before hay fever season takes off. If you commence with one of these 3 remedies, you can easily strengthen your immune system and your body will react less allergic once the hay fever season starts.
